If you notice there is a leak in your roof, you see visual signs of damage to the roof, or you find shingles from your roof that have blown off into your yard, then you know you are going to need to call out a roofer to come and take care of the roofing repairs for you. However, there are a lot of other services that a roofer can do for you, and as a homeowner, you should familiarize yourself with them in case you find yourself needing these services at some point. Here are just some of the things a roofer can do for you besides repairing roofing damage:

Roofers will install skylights

If you want to have skylights installed, then this is something you would call a roofer out for. While it is best to have the skylights designed into the original roof and installed during the construction of the home, they can also be installed later on. So, if you have found yourself in a home wishing you had skylights, you can get them. Also, a roofer will be the one to come fix issues with existing skylights, including things like leaks or integrity issues.

Roofers will install rain gutters

If you need to have rain gutters installed on your home, a business, or any other structure, then you want to call a roofer. They will also come out to remove existing gutters and replace them with new ones, and they will come out to repair damaged areas of the gutters as well. If you should decide you want something like a screen installed on the gutters, then this would be another service a roofer can do for you. Some people clean their own gutters, but if you don't want to do this or your gutters are difficult for you to access, then your roofer can come to clean them for you. This should be done twice a year to avoid issues with clogs or flooding.

Roofers will clean your roof

Some homeowners don't realize that their roofs need to be cleaned regularly. However, neglecting this maintenance can lead to problems. Cleaning the roof removes things like mildew and mold, as well as any debris, such as piles of leaves that have collected in the valleys of the roof or near the chimney. Wet piles of leaves can lead to issues like mold, and dry leaves are a fire hazard. In most cases, the roof should be cleaned every couple of years or so.
